Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce Hosts CNN Money Breakfast
The Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce hosted a special networking breakfast at the CNN Money studios. Our members received a business briefing from Frédéric Lelièvre, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Paige Holt, COO and Olivia Chang, CNN's Australian born, Zurich based video journalist. They also had the opportunity to experience the cutting-edge studio technology from the Anchor's chair. Given the success of this event, we have been invited back in 2019.

Mario Greco, Group CEO, Zurich Insurance celebrates with the Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce
In celebration of Zurich's Australian expansion with the acquisition of ANZ Life and Cover-More, AusCham held a special celebratory dinner with Mario Greco, Group CEO, Zurich Insurance. To a capacity audience, Mario outlined the strategic importance of these acquisitions - both local and internationally - and promised to return in two years' time for an update about the strategic transformation program.

Sergio Ermotti Celebrates with the Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce
In celebration of the special relationship between Australia and Switzerland, Sergio Ermotti, the CEO of UBS Group, outlined UBS’s aspirations in Australia and the importance of the Australian investment banking market. Over 100 guests attended the Australian-inspired dinner at Zunfthaus zur Meisen. Congratulations to Nadine Esposito for winning the Business Class return airfare between Zurich and Melbourne or Sydney provided by Etihad Airways.

The Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce hosts Cochlear’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at Parliament House, Bern
The Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 50th anniversary since research began on Cochlear’s ground-breaking hearing devices and the 40th anniversary of its first bionic ear implant. Speakers included Richard Brook, President EMEA & Latin America, Professor Dr. Marco Caversaccio (Inselspital Bern), Uwe E. Jocham (CSL Behring), Eva Staub, the Australian Ambassador Lynette Wood and Thomas Aeschi, Nationalrat and President of the Swiss Parliamentary Association of Australia and New Zealand. Over 100 guests joined the celebration.

The Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce (“Auscham”) celebrated another successful year with a very special event for our members and friends. Graeme Vavasseur, Vice President & Group Treasurer, Amcor Corporate, offered best wishes to all of our guests that included representatives of leading Australian and Swiss companies. Comedian Sylvia Day performed a never-before-seen show, “Everybody Wants to be an Australian”.

Urs Breitmeier CEO of RUAG Group, discussed how RUAG achieved its international success “From Bern to Australia”, at the latest event of the Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce, organized and hosted by Victoria Tanner, Partner at C-Matrix and President of the Chamber. Urs Breitmeier’s speech, which outlined the increasingly important role of Australia in building RUAG’s business, was followed by a celebratory dinner featuring food and wines form the Bern region and Australia.

The President of the Australian Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Tanner, co-hosted a special reception for members of a visiting high-level Australian business delegation from the European Australian Business Council (EABC) with Austrade. Special guests included Mr Peter Spuhler, CEO of Stadler Rail, the Honourable Nick Greiner AC, the delegation leader, as well as Mr Bruce Gosper, the CEO of Australia’s trade and investment promotion agency. The delegation included chairs and CEOs of some of Australia’s largest companies and universities as well as senior Australian government officials.

Christa Markwalder, Parliamentary Speaker (Elect), Swiss National Council: The first public discussion, from the Parliamentary Speaker (Elect), about the 2016 legislative program, its challenges and implications. The discussion was followed by an Australian-inspired apéro riche and wine tasting. The tasting was led by Dr Georg Hess, ASCC board member and former viticulturist and winemaker in Switzerland and Australia.

Walter von Känel, President of Longines, discussed Longines’ brand heritage and importance in both countries, as well as Longines’ role as official timekeeper of Australia’s greatest international and local racing events – the Melbourne Cup, Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Golden Slipper Carnival.
